Who We Are

The Lorne Independent is a monthly, non-profit community newspaper published by Lorne Independent Inc. (No. A0041756Y, ABN 54 724 981 550).

The Lorne Independent respectfully acknowledges that we live, work and publish on the traditional lands of the Gadubanud people.

Produced on a non-profit voluntary basis, The Lorne Independent seeks to give our community open access to its pages. We welcome contributions from residents, groups and organisations across Lorne and the Surf Coast. Publicity for community events is free, and we encourage anyone with local news, photos or updates to get involved.

Our History

Contributions And Editorial Policy

We, the editorial committee of the Lorne Independent, welcome articles, stories, photos and community notices from anyone wishing to contribute. All submitted material must include the name and address of the author or organisation.

The opinions expressed in contributed articles remain those of the individual authors.

We reserve the right to cut, alter or otherwise amend articles to make them suitable for publication, and reserve the right to reject material that we deem unsuitable for this publication.

Contributors using AI in the creation of their work must acknowledge this at submission. Articles must be at least 50% original to be published.

Contribution deadline is the 25th of each month (Christmas deadline is 20th December).
